SPLASH Steamboat

Enjoy a beautiful evening aboard a real paddle wheel steamboat on the Delaware River. Your trip engineer will be delighted to share how the steam engines work and a bit of the history of “America’s First Great Invention” – just ask. “SPLASH the smiling steamboat” will take you on a 1.5 to 2 hour voyage of fun and learning featuring environmental science and history. See where Washington crossed the river to New Hope, the last shad fishery on the non-tidal part of the Delaware, and see where rafts ferried settlers, horses and wagons and where canal boats crossed attached to a cable. Wildlife flourishes here. Today the scenic Delaware River is a recreational haven for many, and provides drinking water for 17 million people. Learn more about the importance of the Delaware River Watershed and environmental education here.

Meet us at 11 Bridge Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530, (609) 483-5220 (see directions) by at least 4:30 PM because the boat departs at 5 PM promptly.

There will be a $35 registration fee to provide for a rental fee for the SPLASH Steamboat. The Steamboat will hold up to 24 persons easily so please register and pay early so you don't miss out. Once we reach 24 persons we can start a waiting list. Those who have registered and paid in advance will have priority.

We have designated a RAIN date as Friday September 20, 2019 also in case of bad weather the day of the event. Sorry, no refunds.

From the Lambertville Station Lot:

1. From Bridge Street, turn into the parking lot at the Lambertville Station Restaurant.
2. Drive past the left side of the Inn at Lambertville Station (the big hotel on the river). After you pass the hotel, bear right at the fork in the driveway. Stay on the macadam access road.

3. Pass all the outboard motor boats along the shoreline and go to the end of that road (about 200 yards) where you will see a boat launch ramp leading down to the river and signs for the steamboat. The steamboat is right next to the boat launch ramp.

Cars: Turn left and go 20 yards up a little hill past the red-brick, public rest rooms. Turn right and park anywhere (free parking).
